Privacy Policy

Banzen ("the App", "we", "our") is a travel companion app that displays local weather, translates text, and converts currencies. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user. We are committed to collecting only what is strictly necessary to provide the service.

1. Information We Collect

Banzen collects the following categories of data:

Location (precise, optional)
When you grant permission, the App accesses your device's current location to display accurate local weather. You choose the permission level — "While Using the App" or "Always" — through the standard iOS permission prompt. Your location is transmitted directly to Apple WeatherKit to fetch weather data and is never stored by us on-device or on any server.

Translation history (on-device only)
The App saves your last 5 translation requests locally on your device (using on-device storage) so you can quickly reference recent translations. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. It is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.

      We do not collect your name, email address, Apple ID, device
      identifiers, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information.
      There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
    

2. How We Use Your Information

Location — used in real time to fetch weather data from Apple WeatherKit for your current position.
Text you enter in the translation tab — sent to Google Translate API solely to return a translation. We do not log, store, or process this text ourselves.
Currency queries — the App requests exchange rates from fxratesapi. No user data is attached to these requests.
Translation history — stored locally on your device for your convenience only.

3. Third-Party Services

Banzen relies on the following third-party services to deliver its features. Each service operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

Apple WeatherKit Provides weather data based on your current location. Apple Privacy Policy →

4. Data Retention

We do not retain any data on our end — there are no servers or databases operated by Banzen that store your information.

Your translation history is stored exclusively on your device and is retained until you delete the App. In-app deletion will be added in a future update.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party APIs listed in Section 3, strictly to deliver the features you use.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, though given the minimal data we collect, such disclosures are extremely unlikely.

6. Children's Privacy

Banzen is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Location access — you can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Banzen.
Translation history — you can delete it by uninstalling the App. In-app deletion is planned for a future update.
Data requests — if you have any questions about data stored on your device or by our third-party partners, contact us at the address below.

8. Security

Because Banzen does not operate any backend servers or databases, there is no central data store that could be breached. On-device data (translation history) is protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and device encryption mechanisms.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
